Netroots Nation
Advomatic has been a sponsor and developer of Netroots Nation (formerly YearlyKos), since its founding in 2006. Netroots Nation is the largest in-person gathering of the online progressive community, with a focus on bloggers: the netroots. We are committed to strengthening the progressive movement on all levels, from bloggers reporting on small communities all the way up to building websites for presidential candidates.
Challenges & Needs
The Netroots Nation website needed to promote the organization in the months prior to the event, yet still provide necessary information to attendees during the conference. The attendees are very diverse, including bloggers, non-profit organizations, candidates, elected officials, students and online service providers like Advomatic. The panels and session at Netroots Nation represent this diversity. Accordingly, conference information much be easily searchable and filterable, so attendees can quickly view events of interest.
Solution
All panels, videos and events are tagged and searchable. When viewing the list of sessions, conference attendees can sort alphabetically and chronologically, as well as filter by day and type of workshop. Individual sessions in the list can be viewed without refreshing the page, using AJAX-powered description drop-downs. Each session and speaker also has its own page, so conference panelists and attendees can easily link to and promote relevant events. The Netroots Nation website now includes a video archive of past sessions and events.
Netroots Nation uses special events and premier speakers to promote the organization in the months between conferences. NN staff can create events, integrate with its CRM registration tools and promote these events to the front page.
