Aaron Winborn

Web Developer / Project Manager

Aaron Winborn has been a professional web designer and developer since 1998. Before joining Advomatic, he worked as a freelance designer, developing sites for several not-for-profit organizations, small businesses, writers, and other individuals. Experienced with Drupal, he lends a helping hand to the Open Source community, of which he is proud to be a part. He has an extensive background in html, javascript, css, php, sql, and flash.

Besides designing and developing web sites, Aaron is also a teacher. In the past, he has taught classes in such diverse areas as computer game Design, web design, graphic arts, and the History of the Vietnam War. Although he has put down his teaching hat to develop full time with Advomatic, he still teaches the occasional evening class at a local Continuing Education Center, including "Designing your Blog" and "Computer Game Design".

Throughout his life, Aaron has been an advocate of youth rights. For many years, he has been involved with Sudbury model schools, a model of democratic, age-mixed schooling for students aged 5-19. Earlier, he also volunteered with Youth Voice Radio, a weekly program in North Carolina run by and airing teens.

Aaron has been an activist on many fronts, having been involved with such programs as the White Caucus, a group in North Carolina examining and fighting racism; Paper Hand Puppet Intervention, a politically active puppet troop; and School of Our Own Path, a series of critical workshops on people's struggles in the South. He has also been active in the anti-war movement, civil liberties, and fighting oppression in all its forms. Before attending St. Leo College, Aaron served as Program Director for the late Elisabeth Kubler-Ross, author of On Death and Dying and a founder of the Hospice program.

In his spare time, Aaron performs with the bilingual puppet theater company Grasshopper Arts.
