Music For America

Not only does Advomatic do custom module development work with this ground-breaking young voter project, but one MfA founder is on Advomatic staff.

One of the first organizations to begin mobilizing progressive young people in the 2004 election cycle was Music for America (MfA) - a partisan political organization run entirely by people under 30, working to mobilize their politically uninitiated peers in local music and cultural scenes since May of 2003.

In the lead-up to the 2004 Election, MfA signed up 19,169 volunteers to work with over 200 bands at 1,233 venues, at 2,304 shows which reached 2 million people. There were over 3,500 events integrating music and politics that year and MfA was involved with 2/3 them.

Young Voter Facts
In 2004:

  • 18-29 was the only age group to vote for Kerry.
  • Young people were the only age group to decrease their support for George Bush since the 2000 election.
  • 20.1 million people under 30 participated in the 2004 Presidential. That’s 4.3 million more than in 2000, as well as the largest increase in voter participation of any age group.
  • In the 10 most contested battleground states, Young people turned out at a 13% higher rate than in 2000.

In 2006, young voters again turned out in record numbers and played a crucial role in electing a Democratic Congress while breaking all the 18-29 yr-old midterm turnout records.

Thanks to Drupal's ease of use, most anything they need their website to do, MfA staff or volunteers can do themselves... but anytime MfA needs anything, Advomatic is happy to help.
