This is a solution where multiple servers are configured to work together to host the content of a website. A cluster can be set up in many different ways designed to best optimize the resources of the hardware for the specific tasks. Ours is optimized for MySQL and PHP - specifically for the Drupal CMS, but can also host WordPress, and various other CMS's.
Our shared cluster currently has 4 apache servers, and 2 database servers. A load balancer sits in front of the four 'head' servers and directs incoming requests to the server that has the least load currently.
Using a full cluster provides several desirable effects.
- Power: By combining the resources of multiple servers your pages get served faster and more reliably.
- Redundancy: Any one server in the arrangement can fail and your website remains online and accessible.
- Scalability: We'll continue to add servers to the pool as we grow, and will never overload the cluster. This is the same pledge we make on all of our shared platforms.

Affordable
If we were to offer the exact same hardware used in the Advomatic Shared Cluster as dedicated hardware it would cost $4895 per month. With Advomatic, you can host your site on a full cluster for $499 per month. Also, make sure to look at our CDN services for the Special Add-ons created just for the Shared Cluster.
Easy
As would be expected, more than one server multiplies the complexity of managing a website. Don't worry about it, we'll take care of that part. In fact, in our configuration the only way you can interact with the Shared Cluster is through the staging server that we provide you free of charge. All you need to to is create your website the same as you would on any development server, and then run the site_synch script to push it to the cluster.
