Jason "JD" Crowe

Senior Systems Administrator

Jason got his first "real" job loading hoppers at a plastic injection molding factory on Bainbridge Island in Washington state. One day, while fishing a dropped bolt out of a 150 gallon vat of hydraulic fluid, he thought to himself, "There must be a better job out there". And so the hunt began. He has worked as a welder. Built sets for live theater productions in abandoned airplane hangers. Fished commercially for salmon in the chilling waters of the Bearing sea. For a year he drove a school bus full of rowdy, unruly school children back and forth to their institution of learning. He has worked pyrotechnic ranges for ostentatious outdoor theatrical productions. Watched guard shacks burn to the ground in Afghanistan during his 6 year stint in the Air Force. They say that variety is the spice of life, although they never guaranteed you would like the flavor of all the spices.

Nowadays Jason specializes in the arcane rituals of systems administration. He is constantly striving to make bash scripts that have a smaller memory footprint or are capable of threading. If you want to have a discussion about prioritizing, queuing, and scheduling tcp packets as they pass through a bastion firewall, he is your guy.

Jason lives on a boat on a murky river in New Jersey, which is not as glamorous as it sounds. In his spare time he works on his boat. Most weekends you can find him ... working on his boat. In the evenings he likes to to sit down with a nice glass of ... actually, who am I kidding, he works on his boat.

Jason holds a degree in "Aircraft Systems Maintenance" from the Community College of the Air Force. No really, it's a real degree.
